Dr. Thomas Schumacher, DO has been with Capital District Renal Physicians since 1994. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Nephrology at St. Clare’s Hospital prior to it’s joining the Ellis Family of Medicine. He currently sits as the Division Chief of Nephrology at Ellis Hospital and the medical director of Capital District Dialysis Center and its sister unit in Niskayuna.
As a member of the Board of Director’s and Medical Advisory Board for the National Kidney Foundation, Dr Schumacher has given much of his time to the foundation’s many fund raisers. Recently appearing in an interview with Benita Zahn, taking part in a fashion show, running a 5k race and even being the subject of the dunking booth at the Annual Kidney Foundation family day.
Dr. Schumacher is a graduate of Siena College, and completed medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He trained in internal medicine at Berkshire Medical Center and nephrology at Nassau County Medical Center.
After completing his training, Dr. Schumacher and his family relocated from Long Island to the Albany area. When not attending to his patients, Dr. Schumacher enjoys hiking, biking and camping with his family.
